In the scene of men’s ’60s jackets, the Harrington jacket or the bomber style was a British classic but equally as popular in America. There were also shearling lined bomber jackets, corduroy coats and knee-length overcoats. 70s men’s jackets had the new additions of suede fringe jackets, track jackets, belted leather coats, and denim jean jackets (AKA the Type III Trucker jacket).
Men’s retro sweaters, button or zip cardigans, and pullovers in novelty prints make up the Mod 1960s style. 60s and 70s men’s sweaters (jumpers) had a fit slim on the body with narrow cuffs and collars. Colors were bold and patterns favored colorblock, geometric, and character designs. Contrasting large buttons on cardigan sweaters were popular as well. So were zip up sweater jackets, shawl collar pullovers, and short V-neck sweaters. Chunky knit fisherman sweaters, varsity stripe sweaters, and cable knits also made a comeback. Many of these new 60s and 70s jackets, coats and sweaters / jumpers embrace the retro men’s style without the price tag of genuine vintage.
