The 1960s were a wild and colorful time for hosiery. Initially, women were still wearing seamless stockings with garter belts, but soon they were wearing full pantyhose ’60s tights in colors that matched their dresses. Skirts were short and leg hair was long so tights had to have full coverage- not sheer. When wearing a matching color wasn’t possible, many women wore textured knit tights in white or black. Tall knee-high socks were another option: chunky knit socks in winter, and light lace weaves in summer. Checks, stripes, herringbone, dots, chevron… you name, it 1960s stockings and tights came in it.
