With just a few days before Thanksgiving I wanted to say a heartfelt ‘Happy Holidays‘ to you. It may seem a bit early to be saying so, but a few days after Thanksgiving we will be welcoming our newest addition to the VintageDancer.com family, a baby boy! Needless to say, December is going to be a busy month as we adjust to life with a newborn again. We plan to just enjoy the holidays as a family and get back to “work” once the new year rolls around.
You won’t see many new fashion history articles coming from here for a while but I do plan to keep Facebook, Google +, Twitter and Pinterest active with some fun holiday gift guides (plus pics of our little man once he arrives :] ) Please join me on your favorite social network!
New Year, New Plans for VintageDancer.com
2014 has been an overwhelming, amazing, “I can’t believe its true” kind of year at VintageDancer.com. We saw the site grow 458% between January and October. That’s just nuts! The best part is the growth has made is possible for oscar to retire from his day job and join me to work on building the website into what I always dreamed it to be- THE BEST source for ALL vintage inspired clothing on the web. That means we will be using his amazing skills as a Software Engineer to develop a new back-end system for linking to online merchants of ALL SIZES (something we currently can’t do with our third party software app). We hope to include the independent merchants listed here (women) and here (men’s). If you know of someone whose vintage inspired clothing isn’t included in either of these lists, please have them contact me.
It is our hope to feature more merchants from around the world (The UK and Australia especially) and offer more clothing to choose from, in more budget ranges, and with greater sorting abilities (such as by price, size, country, etc). All of these new additional features will take some time to build, test and release so you probably won’t see anything new on the site for a few months. For our family who loves technology and vintage fashion, it is going to be a fun project to build. We hope you like it too!
Naturally, I don’t plan to stop researching and writing about fashion history in 2015 either! I have about 12 more articles on 1940s women’s fashion to write and then I will move on to complete the 1950s, 1930s, 1910s, and 1960s decades as well. Gentlemen, you have been so patient with all my women’s fashion articles. I will get back to writing for you too.
Well I wanted to keep this short but there was just too much I wanted to share with you! Again, thank you, thank you, thank you for being a reader of the VintageDancer.com blog and shopper too! Your support makes it all worth it!
Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
