90s guy’s clothing is once again trending back in fashion, perhaps if only for a 90s themed party. From the bright colors and bold prints of the early ’90s (Saved by the Bell style) to the relaxed nothing fashion of cargo pants and flannel shirts of the middle years. The 90s hip hop scene had a very unique style with oversized clothing, and the punk and grunge guys made wearing all black cool.

10. 90s Haram Pants for Guys
1st place for early 90s fashion for guys goes to the trendy haram pant (often misnamed parachute pants). These baggy, patterned, elastic waist and cuffed shiny cotton pants were worn with baggy, oversized T-shirts and high top sneakers. So cool!
Hip Hop artist MC Hammer took ultra baggy harem pants to Hollywood with his signature “Hammer Pants.”
9. 90s Cabana Sets
Back on trend now are men’s 90s cabana swimwear sets– coordinating swim trunks and shirts or short sleeve windbreaker jackets. Wide retro stripes and colorblock pattern makes these unmistakably 90s outfits for summer pool or beach parties.
8. Tracksuits
The 80s windbreaker tracksuit continued to be trendy in the 90s. Bright neon colors gave way to mostly neutral blues, greys and white colorblock combinations. Baggy and oversized tracksuits was an iconic 90s fit.
These make very popular guys 90s outfits for a themed party. You can buy a costume quality tracksuits or for a bit more by the real thing and hit the gym. Pair them with white retro sneakers.
7. 90s Overalls for Guys
Will Smith as the Fresh Prince of Bellaire made overalls hugely popular in the 90s. Light and dark blue denim or bold colors, even solid black overalls and shortalls were worn over t-shirts, button down shirt, tank tops, and Henley shirts. Unbuckling one strap was the coolest way to wear them.
For shoes, try a pair of black Doc Martin’s, work boots or combat boots. For the teen boys 90s look a pair of Converse work just as well.
Am alternative to coveralls were coveralls or coordinated sets of denim or canvas cotton “work clothes.”
6. 90s Rugby Shirt
Men’s wide stripe rugby shirts, polo shirts, henley shirts- heck, any kind of shirt was printed with big bold stripes in the 90s. I don’t know if they could win any cool awards but they were extremely common.
Acid wash, white wash, denim jeans with an elastic waistband like these were equally popular (but totally unflattering to any man. Seriously, they are uglyl!)
For this easy, casual 90s outfit for guys buy a rugby polo shirt and pair with white wash jeans, pleated chino pants or baggy cargo pants. For shoes a pair of summer boat shoes (loafer types) or moccasins are perfect.
5. 90s Baseball Shirts
Baseball was the best sport in the 90s (football was ok too.) Everyone wore baseball jersey’s from their favorite teams (I liked the the Oakland A’s.) Generic baseball shirts in 90s colors were worn on the day to day with elastic waist cotton athletics shorts or long pants.
90s hip hop artists made some really unique baseball shirts that are popular 90s costumes for guys. Add big gold necklaces, a bucket hat, bowline sunglasses, and a big ‘ol boombox as a prop. See 90s men’s hip hop costumes sets.
4. 90s Jam Shorts
Like harem pants, 90s Jam Shorts, had the same shiny cotton material with funky prints. In summer, Jam Shorts were worn with cutoff sleeveless sweatshirts, oversize tank tops, and baggy T-shirts.
Hot pink swim shorts or running shorts gave Jams a run for the money. Nothing says California beach dude like hot pink shorts and a beachy themed tank top! These retro T shirts are also cool.
3. Denim, Denim, Denim
Did I mention denim was sooo cool in the 90s. All colors of denim and especially stone wash denim in blue or black was layered on. Like these outfit below, big denim bomber jackets with baggy denim cargo pants were cool but also scary.
For this 90s outfit for guys, try denim cargo pants with black t shirt, and Denim bomber jacket.
2. 90s Memphis Shirts
In the 80s Memphis shirts were brightly colors, patterned, button down shirts worn over basic T shirts. The 90s version was toned down in color but not in pattern. Patchwork, Aztec, tropical, southwestern, geometric prints and wide vertical stripes were equally as cool as the 80s versions. Notice these prints are back in style now? I sure do!
They can be hard to search for. Try keywords Medallion print, paisley shirt, geometric print
1. Men’s 90s Ugly Sweaters
Like Memphis shirts, 80s ugly sweaters give the 90s Zeppelin sweater competition. Wintery-patterns, zig zags, fair isles, abstracts threads gave the ugly sweater a less ugly look. Iconic, yes, but nothing to stand out in the world of men’s 90s fashion trends.
For a true 90s oufit look for unique sweaters in winter. Pair it with a mockneck shirt and cordouroy trousers.
