I have been planning my next Steampunk costume for the past few months. Previously I have always gone with a classic black or brown Steampunk costume, but this year I wanted to do something completely different. With a current fashion trend for everything Bohemian, I wondered if a cross between Boho and Steampunk would make an interesting costume?
I had seen a few pictures of costumers wearing white or ivory Steampunk costumes and I just love the look. After consulting with my friend and Boho fashion expert Mairin of Bohomonde, we came up with the costume pictured above. At the time, I had all the elements of the costume I needed except for the corset, because all of my corsets are black. I really wanted an ivory corset, especially an underbust one, since they are very versatile with layering over and under other clothes and accessories.
The universe was listening to my wishes because the next day Corset Story contacted me and asked if I wanted to giveaway one of their corsets to one lucky reader.
Now, to be honest, I get a lot of requests to do giveaways. I am very picky about who I choose to accept. Especially with corsets, the quality can be anything from thin cheap Halloween versions on up to luxury handmade corsetry. Each have their place (I use both), but for a giveaway I wanted to be sure Corset Story corsets were as good as they looked online. Thankfully, they agreed to send me a corset to review.
I chose the Classic Underbust corset in ivory. I used the size chart to pick out the appropriate size- which was actually my pre- post-baby belly size, not my current waist, hence why I did not model for these pictures. The corset arrived quickly and IT IS BEAUTIFUL! I am very impressed with the quality, material, durability and fit of the corset. It really is everything a well made corset should be and at only $80 it is a bargain! It has spiral steel boning, sturdy cotton twill fabric and thick extra long laces (they won’t break like many cheaper brands). I have nothing negative to say about the corset. It really is a VERY good corset. I certainly will be shopping here for more corsets in the near future…such as Halloween?
