Am I the only one that shops for Christmas gifts in November? I’m a Grinch when it comes to store crowds, parking marathons, and guilt-inducing bell ringers. To avoid the unpleasantness, I do my shopping in November, especially online, so that I know I will have my items in time.
I thought I would help you out with a few gift themed gift ideas this month. For starters? Gifts for the Downton Abbey fan.
Downton Abbey Jewelry
Have you seen the beautiful collection of Downton Abbey inspired jewelry from the 1928 brand? I am a big fan 1928’s affordable, yet oh so historical costume jewelry, and now I am a fan ten times more since they introduced the Downton Abbey line. Its a huge collection of Edwardian to 1920s necklaces, earrings, brooches, bobby pins and bangles. I have several on my wish list. These would make great gifts and stocking stuffers.
Downton Abbey Calendars
I still use wall calendars and planners for my day to day life. That’s so vintage of me! Both wall calendars and planners are available in 2014 Downton Abbey themes. There is even a tear-a-page calendar combining full-color photographs (both stills from the show and real historical artifacts) with dialogue, quotes, character bios, fascinating period trivia, and more. I would love to get one of these this year!
Downton Abbey Books
A book about Downton Abbey? Of course! There are several fascinating books about the history behind the Downton Abbey stories (based on real life), the castle, and the food. Mmmm, food. Next to fashion, I find historical kitchens and cooking fascinating. How I would love to dine at Downton Abbey and eat a marvelous 5 course meal. The Unofficial Downton Abbey Cookbook tops my book list this year.
Downton Abbey Bath and Beauty
I usually roll my eyes at any company that sticks a popular TV show brand onto standard products and calls it “special.” If I wasn’t such a fan of the show, I might think that about Marks and Spencer (UK) brand of Downton Abbey themed bath soaps, lotions, lips glosses and makeup. The bath stuff especially interests me, with the hint of “freesia and mandarin and subtle undertones of vanilla” in each of the products. They are probably not authentic recipes in which case I would rather bathe in the Victorian Trading Company’s Tub Tea. Its a natural big tea bag filled with flowers and lotions that smell nice and leave the skin very soft. You can let it soak in the water, or better yet use it like a sponge. It’s a very vintage bathing experience.
